The new Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana in Gary remains on track to open this spring.
Hiring has been active in recent weeks for the new $300 million casino at Burr Street and I-94. Developers in November announced the launch of two eight- to 12-week dealer training programs.
Now developers are actively hiring on the food and support services side, including restaurant managers, chefs, cooks, bartenders, servers, and cashiers. Hiring also is expected to begin soon for security, finance, marketing, guest services and gaming operations.
“The construction is moving along, and we are at a point where we are seeking great candidates to join our band,” said Dawn Reynolds-Pettit, vice president of human resources with Hard Rock. “We realize this has been a tough year for people in the hospitality industry and we are very happy to help so many of them get back to business.”
The site’s restaurants will include a Hard Rock Cafe, Council Oak Steaks and Seafood, YOUYU Noodle Bar, Fresh Harvest Buffet, and The Constant Grind Coffee Shop.
About 600 employees from the Majestic Star Casino in Gary will transfer to the Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana. Developers have said new hires likely will total 800 to bring the site’s workforce to 1,400 people.
The 200,000 square-foot site will feature 1,600 slot machines and 80 table games and a 1,954-seat concert venue.
The second phase of the project will add a 200-room hotel and a multi-level parking garage. Casino operators expect Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana will generate $20 million annually in tax revenues and payments.
