Gerry Hundt Legendary One Man Band

Gerry Hundt: Legendary One-Man Band will take over the Hyndman Gallery from 5:30 to 7:30 PM (CST). Gerry Hundt is a wunderkind of a blues and old-timey music multi-instrumentalist who plays as many roles as he does instruments, performing as a bandleader as well as a sideman, in full bands, quartets, trios, duos and solo. But his “Legendary One-Man Band” has become Hundt's alter ego, just as, say, Spiderman is Peter Parker's. And to see him in action on his guitar/harmonica/bass drum/snare rig one wonders if Hundt was bitten by a radioactive boll weevil in his youth, enabling him to tear it up on his own terms, transforming from merely Gerry Hundt, musician, into “Gerry Hundt the Legendary One-Man Band,” sprouting stringed instruments, rack attachments and foot devices, and bursting into a set of hot, rag-time blues.

In-between sets, explore LCA's 6th annual Holiday Artisan Market. LCA's Gallery Shop spills over into the lobby through January 2nd to accommodate thousands of new items. The market features holiday gift-giving possibilities at every price point by artisans from the Midwest and across the country.

Opening receptions during the evening include: The “Special Arts” Exhibition 2015 (Large NIPSCO Art Education Studio) which showcases artists from Michiana Resources and Social Learning Institute. LCA's Area Artists Association presents Laurel Izard: Goddesses and Aliens (Small NIPSCO Art Education Studio), which features recent collages of graceful goddesses and geometric alien characters. Enjoy light bites catered by Shoreline Brewery.

“Gerry Hundt's newest release is like good moonshine: it may not have the polish or consistency of commercial whiskey, but it's delicious fun with a real kick to it.” – Anthony Moser, Editor of Buddy Guy: Blues and Music News. From 2004 through 2009, Gerry toured the USA and EU relentlessly as a member of Chicago's Nick Moss & The Flip-Tops, filling the role of “utility man,” playing bass, guitar, harmonica, and, of course, mandolin. On the strength of his critically-acclaimed Blue Bella Records CD, “Since Way Back,” Gerry was nominated for Blues Music Awards in 2008, 2009, 2010, & 2011. Tracks from the album have appeared numerous times on NPR's “Morning Edition.”  As a solo performer, Gerry's fresh take on Chicago Blues has led to appearances at the Kalamazoo Blues Festival, Port Townsend Blues Festival, and Buddy Guy's Legends; it has also made him a favorite among blues-dance aficionados at national events like bluesShout! and the Mile High Blues Fest.
