There’s been no shortage of facility and service expansion around the Region for Franciscan Health.

In recent weeks, the health system began work on a new $3 million pediatric facility in Crown Point. The new center will be next to Franciscan Physician Network St. Clare Health Center on Indiana Avenue and will open in 2020.

The new facility will replace Franciscan’s Crown Point Pediatrics Health Center at 1505 S. Court St. in Crown Point.

Franciscan also recently opened a new urgent care center in Michigan City at its former hospital site. Franciscan moved hospital services to its new Michigan City hospital near I-94 in January.

The new Franciscan ExpressCare is in the emergency department area of the former hospital at 301 W. Homer St. in Michigan City.

In Dyer, Franciscan unveiled the expanded Midwest Bariatric Institute.

The expansion was celebrated with a blessing and dedication on June 7 at the facility, which is inside Franciscan Health Dyer.

The expansion features more exam rooms and a larger waiting room for patients. It also includes the addition of two bariatric exam tables that are more comfortable and safer for patients.
