Operators of the Four Winds South Bend casino are set to mark a completed step in its massive site expansion project.

A private ribbon cutting, featuring casino management and representatives of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi, is set for Aug. 18, to dedicate the site’s expanded gaming area, which adds 45,000 square feet to the existing 140,000 feet of casino space.

The expanded gaming area includes 850 slot machines, 11 table games, a new high-limit area as well as an additional cage and cashier area. The existing gaming space features more than 1,400 slot machines and 16 table games.

The Four Winds South Bend casino opened in January 2018. In fall 2019, plans were announced to add a 23-story hotel to the site as well as expanding the gaming area and additional amenities.

The expansion includes a spa, convention area, meeting space, a ballroom, lounge, bar and grille, an outdoor roof-top swimming pool and terraces. The site’s new meeting space, which has been named the Ribbon Town Conference and Event Center, is a 24,000-square-foot-multi-use facility.

The tribe projects once the expansion is completed in early 2023, it will create between 350 and 400 new jobs. It has opened a recruitment center to begin filling the expected new job openings.
