CROWN POINT – The expansion of the Purdue Technology Center of Northwest Indiana will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday (today) at 9000 Connecticut Drive. The keynote speaker is U.S. Rep. Pete Visclosky, D-Merrillville, who was instrumental in getting the center locate in Northwest Indiana.
The $2.2 million, 12,000-square-foot expansion brings the Purdue Technology Center to 60,000 square feet. The addition will be used to support new and expanding companies in high-tech fields such as pharmaceutical sciences, fuel cell technology and security technology.
Other speakers include Joseph B. Hornett, senior vice president, treasurer and chief operating officer of Purdue Research Foundation and Vic Lechtenburg, Purdue University's vice provost for engagement.
The Purdue Technology Center has 15 companies where 100 people work at an average wage of $54,000. Eight additional companies are affiliated with the park.
