PORTAGE – The City of Portage is in the running for a $25,000 price and a chance to be featured on the World Fishing Network if residents and supporters vote for it as the Ultimate Fishing Town.

Indiana Dunes Tourism nominated Portage.

“Portage has marina access to sport fishing on Lake Michigan, as well as a park featuring pier and riverwalk fishing on Lake Michigan,” said Dunes Tourism’s nomination. “It also boasts fishing on the Little Calumet River and Salt Creek, and there is a park with fishing on an inland lake.”

The community with the most voted received $25,000. Second place receives $5,000 and third place $2,500.
