SOUTH BEND – Memorial Health Discovery Center and Spirit of Women are sponsoring a free lecture series on Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

Barbara J. Dzikowski, program director for the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Services of Northern Indiana, said Alzheimer’s is the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S. She said Alzheimer’s and dementia are likely to “become the defining disease of the Baby Boom generation. As people live longer, the likelihood that someone in your family will develop dementia is increasing dramatically.”

Lectures will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. (EDT) at Memorial Health Discover Center at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. They will be on Sept. 7, Sept. 21, Oct. 5, Oct. 19 and Nov. 2. For details of each meeting or to make a reservation, call (574) 647-1801.
