WHITING – Ineos, a chemical manufacturer in Whiting, has announced it will close its Northwest Indiana operations by the end of the year. The closing of its plant on Standard Avenue will put 40 people out of work. Ineos, based in Switzerland, opened in Whiting in 1983. The company produces 88,000 tons of polyisobutene, which

HAMMOND – The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority has announced the results of a study that shows tourism contributed $1.6 billion to the Lake County economy in 2010.
