Indiana’s metro area jobless rates edge up in August

Jobless rates in many of the state’s metropolitan areas saw a small increase in August from July. The jobless rate for the Gary metro area was 4.8 percent, up from 4.6 percent in July but down from 5.1 percent in August 2017, according to the latest figures released by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
