HealthLinc will celebrate the opening of its clinic in Newton County on June. 5.
The community is invited to meet health care providers, and receive free health screenings, food and activities from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 102 E. State St. in Morocco.
“HealthLinc Newton is already making a difference by bringing essential health services closer to home for patients in Newton County,” said Melissa Mitchell, chief executive officer at HealthLinc, in a press release. “This location reflects our ongoing commitment to expanding access to high-quality, compassionate, patient-centered care in the communities we serve.”
Trisha Drain, director of Newton County Community Services, said the clinic will provide services not readily available in the county.
“For many families in Newton County, access to local healthcare has been a significant challenge for years,” Drain said. “HealthLinc Newton is helping fill a critical gap by providing quality care close to home, reducing barriers to treatment and improving overall health and wellness for residents of all ages.
“This partnership represents more than a new clinic, it represents hope, prevention and a stronger future for our rural communities.”
Valerie Hennin is the family nurse practitioner at HealthLinc Newton. She specializes in family medicine, stress management and nutrition. She received her associate degree from Purdue University Northwest, and her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from Indiana University Northwest.
The federally qualified health center accepts Medicaid and Medicare, along with most employer-supported insurance. Patients without insurance are also accepted. The site offers help for patients who wish to enroll in health insurance.
The clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
