Franciscan Alliance CEO Kevin Leahy will step down from the leadership position Dec. 31. He will continue to consult during the transition until the end of 2027.
By that time, Leahy will mark 48 years with the nonprofit healthcare system. He became CEO in the mid-1990s.
“It will take all of us working together to make sure we build upon the strong foundation that the Sisters and lay leaders established 150 years ago,” he said in a press release. “It is our responsibility to continue Christ’s ministry in our Franciscan tradition by serving the needs of all who seek healing of body, mind and spirit, especially the most vulnerable among us.”
During Leahy's tenure, a $30 million donation financed the Dean and Barbara White Cancer Center at the new Franciscan Health Crown Point hospital. The $200 million hospital opened early in 2024.
Franciscan Alliance, which was founded in 1875 in Lafayette, manages 11 hospital campuses and employs more than 16,000 people.
