The Indiana Bar Foundation awarded more than $4.7 million to 13 organizations, including several that serve Northwest Indiana.
The grants were awarded to organizations that provide civil legal assistance to low-income residents in Indiana.
Organizations that serve the Region that received funds include Indiana Legal Services, Pro Bono Indiana and Metro Community Outreach in Gary.
“I’m proud to support organizations that are making a real impact across Indiana and to help invest in the education of future leaders. Strengthening access to civil legal assistance remains central to the Foundation’s mission,” said Charles Dunlap, president and CEO of the Indiana Bar Foundation, in a press release.
The foundation also awarded $8,000 in scholarships.
The Indiana Bar Foundation is committed to improving civic education and legal assistance. The Metro Legal Clinic offers pro bono civil legal advice to residents wo do not have access consultations about guardianships, child custody, debt, divorce, driving, among other topics.
