Society of Innovators to honor Region’s changemakers

The Society of Innovators at Purdue Northwest is hosting its 2025 awards luncheon Oct. 29 to recognize innovators from across the seven-county Region.

This year marks the 20th annual awards ceremony. The awards celebrate the spirit of creativity and ingenuity. Dedicated to the idea that anyone can be an innovator, the Society recognizes that innovation is the key to 21st Century competitiveness.

“For 20 years, these awards have showcased the incredible talent and vision that call Northwest Indiana home,” said Gary Johnson, Society of Innovators chairman, in a press release. “The individuals and teams we induct are not just solving problems; they are building opportunities that transform how we live, work and grow as a Region.”

Nominations are still open for this year's Innovators Awards. Inductee categories include:

  • The individual innovator category recognizes the individuals behind Northwest Indiana’s most innovative products, services and initiatives.
  • The team innovator inductee category recognizes the teams behind Northwest Indiana’s most innovative products, services and initiatives.
  • The advocate for innovation inductee category recognizes individuals or teams who embody the mission of the Society of Innovators.
  • The advocate for youth innovation inductee category recognizes individuals who embody the mission of the Society of Innovators to drive entrepreneurship and innovation in Northwest Indiana.

Nominations are open to individuals and teams in any industry who live or work in Northwest Indiana. The deadline to submit a nomination is Aug. 15. Learn more here.

Award winners will be recognized and inducted into the Society of Innovators during the luncheon. The event will take place Oct. 29 at the Avalon Manor Banquet Center in Merrillville. Check-in and networking begins at 11 a.m. The lunch program starts at noon.
