Valparaiso University names executive director

Shaun Sahlhoff has joined Valparaiso University as the executive director of external relations.

Sahlhoff will engage in community outreach to align external initiatives with the goals of the university.

“My role centers on building and maintaining relationships that support the university's mission and objectives,” Sahlhoff said in a press release. “Every day, I’ll collaborate with government officials, community organizations and corporate partners to identify opportunities for strategic cooperation.”

Sahlhoff will also oversee the Collaboratory, a hub for student and faculty engagement in research and industry partnerships. He will support faculty liaisons and cultivate relationships with external stakeholders.

“Ultimately, my goal is to build a legacy of meaningful connections that advance the university’s mission and create lasting opportunities for the people we serve,” he said.

Sahlhoff has been at the university for a few weeks and said he already enjoys his new workplace.

“The university is not only a place of learning and discovery but also a vital part of the fabric of the city and region,” Sahlhoff said. “I admire how Valparaiso University combines a strong sense of tradition with an innovative spirit, continually striving to create opportunities for students, faculty and the broader community.”
