When it comes to educating new moms in best feeding practices for their infants, a pair of global associations believe Community Hospital has the right expertise.
The Family Birthing Center and The Lactation Clinic program at Community Hospital in Munster recently received the International Board Certified Lactation Consultants’ Care Award, which recognizes excellence in staffing as well as care organizations, which serve as a role model in setting the standards for best practices in promoting optimal infant feeding. The award was presented by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners and International Lactation Consultant Association.
“Maternal and child health and infant mortality are among the state’s highest priority health initiatives,” said Lou Molina, CEO of Community Hospital. “We’re proud to be able to lead the way in creating effective solutions to help women and their babies have a healthy, successful first year of life.”
The 2020 IBCLC Care Award recognizes hospitals, birthing facilities, birthing services and community-based health agencies, which utilize board certified lactation consultants and have a dedicated lactation support program. Community Hospital is among five Indiana hospitals, which received the award.
