NIRPC accepting public comments on draft changes to 2018-2021 transportation improvement program

NIRPCThe Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission is accepting public comment on the draft changes to the 2018-2021 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) through Aug. 13.

NIRPC’s TIP is a short-range financial and spending plan on how to use federal transportation funding. These dollars can be used for highway, transit, and non-motorized transportation projects.

NIRPC's TIP is periodically updated and includes projects by municipalities, counties, transit operators, and the state. Federal planning regulations guide the preparation and development of TIP documents.

NIRPC serves Lake, Porter and La Porte counties.

Comments may be submitted by email: comments@nirpc.org or by calling 219-763-6060 as well as by mail to NIRPC, 6100 Southport Road, Portage, IN 46368.

All comments received will be compiled into a public comment report and responded to, NIRPC said. The report will be made available to the public and distributed to various NIRPC committees prior to any action.

NIRPC expects action will be taken during the Aug. 14 meeting of it technical planning committee, followed by the Aug. 16 meeting of the NIRPC commission executive board.
