In recognition of National EMS Week, which runs from May 18 – 24, Porter Regional Hospital will host an EMS Symposium from 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21 at Ivy Tech Community College, 3100 Ivy Tech Dr. in Valparaiso. The event is free and complimentary breakfast and lunch will be provided.
The EMS Symposium will feature several multi-disciplinary clinical experts including neurosurgeons and trauma surgeons from Loyola University Medical Center; regional speakers in social work and patient care; and representatives from the Indiana State Department of Health’s Division of Trauma and Injury Prevention. The symposium’s keynote speaker, Gary Ludwig, currently the Deputy Fire Chief with the Memphis Fire Department, has more than 36 years of fire, rescue and EMS experience and is nationally recognized as an expert for pioneering concepts that are now standard practice in Fire and EMS systems today. The symposium is eligible for both CME and Nursing CEUs.
