Community Wellness Events for June

Buy Us A Coffee

Porter Regional Hospital will present the following community wellness programs in June:

Gallbladder Problems?
Do you have pain after eating, usually in the upper right or upper middle area of your belly? Have you been told that you have gallstones or should have your gallbladder removed? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this event is for you. General Surgeon Dr. Jac Cooper will discuss gallbladder problems including gallbladder attacks, the signs and symptoms of gallstones and the options for gallbladder removal including minimally invasive and robotic surgery. The event will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 4 in the Community Room at Porter Regional Hospital, 85 East US Highway 6 in Valparaiso.

When Joint Replacement is the Best Option: Shoulder and Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement Surgery
Orthopedic Surgeons Drs. Anthony Levenda and Michael Leland will discuss chronic joint pain and reasons you may be a candidate for joint replacement surgery. The event will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 12 at Strongbow Inn, 2405 E. U.S. 30 in Valparaiso.

Hearing Aides Not Enough? Cochlear Implants May Help
If your hearing aids aren’t sufficiently helping, cochlear implants may be an option for both adults and children with severe to profound hearing loss. Unlike a hearing aid that amplifies sound, a cochlear implant is an implantable hearing solution that delivers sound straight to your auditory nerve. Join ENT Dr. Matthew Provenzano who will discuss cochlear implants along with other options for those with hearing loss. The event will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, June 16 in the Community Room at Porter Regional Hospital, 85 East US Highway 6 in Valparaiso.

E-Cigarettes: Help or Hazard?
Kicking the cigarette habit is one of the best things that smokers can do for themselves. Nicotine replacement products, prescription medications, and counseling can all help. But what about the newest tobacco substitute – the electronic cigarette? Join Pulmonologist and Critical Care Physician Dr. Douglas Mazurek to learn if e-cigarettes are a help or a hazard. The event will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 18 in the Community Room at Porter Regional Hospital, 85 East US Highway 6 in Valparaiso.

Porter Regional Hospital’s community wellness programs are free and refreshments will be provided. Pre-registration is required. To register, call 1-800-541-1861.
