Merrillville-based Crossroads Chamber announced that the Crossroads Connects Foundation is hosting a pickleball tournament Feb. 6.
Designed as a blend of friendly competition, networking and community engagement, the event invites players of all skill levels to come together for a day on the court.
“Crossroads YMCA is excited to host our first corporate community event in partnership with the Crossroads Chamber at the new YMCA Sportscenter in Crown Point,” said Lance Reinsma, facility pickleball director, in a press release. “This partnership reflects Crossroads YMCA’s ongoing commitment to strengthening Northwest Indiana by creating a space that will serve as a central hub for community sports, family connections and shared experiences for all.”
The tournament will take place at the new YMCA Sportscenter of Crown Point, at 1307 S. Main Street. The YMCA is slated to open in January.
“Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country because it brings people together,” Deann Patena, Crossroads president and CEO, said. “We wanted to create an event that does the same—connects our business community in a fun, approachable and energizing way.”
Pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. The tournament will serve as a new offering for the chamber.
“This event represents more than just competition; it’s an opportunity for our community to come together, build friendships and celebrate a shared passion for pickleball,” Ty Tornincasa, Crossroads Chamber pickleball tournament committee chair, sad. “Together, we’re not just playing a game, we’re creating a vibrant and connected community.”
