Michigan City-based General Insurance Services is now Highstreet Insurance & Financial Services.

In 2023, General Insurance Services joined Traverse City, Michigan-based Highstreet Insurance. Being part of Highstreet gave General Insurance Services the bench strength of over 180+ agencies, with more than 2,800 insurance experts in communities across the country. The company can now offer more insurance providers and more access to insurance and finance specialists. The company also has more policy and family, home and business coverage options.

General Insurance Services’ roots date to the 1930s when the company first established agencies in La Porte. In the 1940s, the company ventured into Michigan City. Over the next 50 years, General Insurance Services continued to grow through acquisitions and mergers. In 1994, it opened its first Porter County office in Chesterton and later moved to Valparaiso.

Rebranded as Highstreet Insurance & Financial Services, the company has offices in La Porte, Michigan City and Valparaiso.
