HAMMOND – Van Senus Auto Parts, which has stores in Highland and Hammond, have been sold to Auto-Wares Inc. of Grand Rapids, Mich. The Van Senus family has operated the auto parts stores in Northwest Indiana since 1944. Both stores will retain the Van Senus name and all employees are expected to retain their jobs.

HOBART – SRS Distribution of Texas has acquired Hobart Roofing and Supply which has offices in Hobart and Valparaiso. Hobart Roofing and Supply, which has 28 employees, distributes roofing, siding and windows. The company was founded in 1949 and is owned by Jack Ronneau and Rod Ruess, who will remain with SRS.

The workers, who had just returned to week following a two-month layoff, will be out of work until at least March. BURNS HARBOR – Indiana Flame, which provides steel slab cutting equipment to steel mills, has announced a $14 million expansion for its operations in Burns Harbor and Gary. The project is expected to create 24 new jobs, bringing total employment to 66 by 2015. The Indiana Economic Development Corp. is providing $240,000 in training grants.
