Safety-Kleen acquired by Clean Harbors

EAST CHICAGO – Safety-Kleen’s re-refinery plant in East Chicago has been acquired by Clean Harbors Inc. of Norwell, Mass., for $1.25 billion. Safety-Kleen is based in Richardson, Texas, and besides the East Chicago plant, which has 80 employees, has 200 other plants in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.
