MICHIGAN CITY – Horizon Bancorp has raised its quarterly dividend to 15 cents a share, up from 13 cents. The dividend will be paid on Oct. 12 to shareholders of record on Sept. 28. Horizon Bancorp operates Michigan City-based Horizon Bank. Its stock is traded on the NASDAQ Global Market.
MICHIGAN CITY – Lakeshore Foods Corp. has announced it will open in the Jewel-Osco building in Michigan City. Jewel is withdrawing from Michigan City and closed its store on Oct. 8. GRIFFITH – The Griffith-Merrillville Airport has received a $63,900 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration to help it support planning and development efforts. U.S. Rep. Pete Visclosky, D-Merrillville, made the announcement and said the grant will help in construction of a parallel taxiway and improve drainage at the airport. The airport has two 4,900-foot runways.

SOUTH BEND – The University of Notre Dame has received a $6.1 million grant from the National Science Foundation for the QuarkNet program. The five-year program includes research into particle physics experiments to teach students and provide training and mentoring opportunities for high school teachers. SOUTH BEND – RACO, an electric junction box manufacturer, will move its South Holland, Ill., distribution center to South Bend. The company said it will move into 100,000-square-feet at the Ameriplex facility in South Bend where it will invest $1.5 million. By 2015, the company said it could have as many as 77 jobs. RACO
