Superior Ambulance celebrates 30 new EMTs

Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service of Indiana has 30 new EMTs on its payroll thanks to the Life Support Training Institute.

The institute hosted a graduation March 9 at its training facility in Highland. Superior Ambulance has full-time jobs for all of the trainees.

“Superior Ambulance is passionate about investing in local talent and helping people build careers in the communities they call home,” said Kim Godden, vice president of Superior Ambulance, in a press release. “This training creates new opportunities and builds the dedicated, skilled emergency workforce Indiana needs. These graduates are stepping into careers that will make a real difference in their own neighborhoods.”

Superior Ambulance's earn-to-learn program offers EMS graduates tuition reimbursement for further career development. The program includes more than 160 hours of training, and Superior Ambulance reports a 90% pass rate on national exams.

Illinois State Rep. Debbie Meyers-Martin (D-Olympia Fields) and Indiana State Rep. Julie Olthoff (R-Crown Point) were on hand to congratulate the graduates.

“Regional growth depends on a skilled workforce and strong public safety infrastructure,” Olthoff said. “By expanding EMS training and creating direct
pathways into high-demand careers, this program is helping communities across our Region build local talent, bolster household incomes and ensure reliable emergency care.”

Superior Ambulance has headquarters in Elmhurst, Illinois, and provides 911 services in Merrillville, Dyer, Munster, East Chicago, Griffith and Highland. It was founded in 1959.

The Life Support Training Institute, an affiliate of Superior Ambulance, provides training for emergency medical technicians in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin. It was started in 1986.
