Vince Parisi was formally named president and chief operating officer of NIPSCO after only a few weeks as interim leader.

Parisi was made president and chief operating officer of NiSource subsidiary Columbia Gas of Ohio in 2020. He will relinquish those duties to Robert Heidorn and take on leadership of the Merrillville-based company full time.

“Vince has played a pivotal role in advancing a number of key business priorities on behalf of our customers and the communities we serve across Ohio, and we’re confident he’ll do the same in Northern Indiana as we cement our position at the forefront of an industry transition into a diverse menu of energy options,” said Melody Birmingham, NiSource executive vice president and group president of NiSource utilities, in a press release.

Parisi replaces Mike Hooper at NIPSCO. Hooper, who was a leader at the utility for 13 years, left for an opportunity at another Midwest utility.

Birmingham said Hooper helped usher in policies that advance the company's long-term goal of transitioning to cleaner energy sources.

“Our electric generation transition, infrastructure modernization and other key transformation efforts are well underway, and we are well positioned for the future,” she said in a press release.

Parisi previously worked in leadership positions at AES Corp., Indianapolis Power & Light Co., Dayton Power and Light Co., Gas Natural Inc. and IGS Energy.

“As NIPSCO continues to deliver its electric generation transition and long-term infrastructure investment plans, Vince will maintain stability and continuity to the organization to ensure continued success,” Birmingham said.

NIPSCO distributes natural gas and electricity in 32 counties. It serves about 859,000 customers.
