Remodeled Pilot to hold community celebration in Burns Harbor

The Duneland Chamber will host a ribbon cutting April 25 for the completed remodel of the Pilot travel center in Burns Harbor.

The company will present a check for $20,000 to the Duneland School Corp. to showcase Pilot’s commitment to serving the community. The event will include food samples, games, prizes and free items to the public.

“We are excited to showcase our newly updated travel center with the Burns Harbor community and the travelers we serve every day,” said Allison Cornish, vice president of store modernization and development at Pilot, in a press release.

The event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. April 25 at the Pilot in Burns Harbor. More information about the event is available here.

Pilot started with a single location in 1958. Today the company operates 750 truck stops across North America. Based in Knoxville, Tennessee, Pilot Travel Centers does business as Pilot Flying J.

The Chesterton-based Duneland Chamber of Commerce serves Beverly Shores, Burns Harbor, Chesterton, Dune Acres and Porter. The chamber promotes economic development and hosts community-building events and educational programming. The Duneland Chamber of Commerce has about 400 members.
