Ports of Indiana hires two executives

Brian Burgess and Erica Jackson will fill two key financial executive roles at Ports of Indiana.

Burgess will be Ports of Indiana’s new CFO. Jackson will serve as the company’s vice president of finance.

“Brian and Erica bring top-tier leadership and financial experience to Ports of Indiana at a time when we’re facing several unique growth opportunities,” said Jody Peacock, Ports of Indiana CEO, in a press release.

Burgess most recently served as CFO at Fiserv Education, a division of the financial tech company Fiserv. He previously worked with SLM Corp. and Navient.

Burgess earned his Bachelor of Science degree and MBA from Indiana University.

Jackson worked as controller and then CFO at Ports of Indiana from 2019 to 2021. She then joined the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions.

Jackson has held multiple accounting and human resources management roles. She previously worked with Blue Ribbon Transport, Kemba Credit Union and Automotive Finance Corp.

Jackson earned her bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Toledo. She will receive an MBA in data analytics from the Indiana Institute of Technology in early 2024.

“We’re very fortunate to have two such high-caliber individuals on our team, and we’re excited about the important roles they will play in guiding the future growth of our ports,” Peacock said.

Ports of Indiana is a statewide port authority. They operate three ports on the Ohio River and Lake Michigan. The Burns Harbor port is focused on steel, agriculture and manufacturing.

Established in 1961, Ports of Indiana aims to grow Indiana’s economy by maintaining a first-rate port system. They are a statewide resource for maritime issues, trade and multimodal logistics.
