Community celebrates new amphitheater

Shirley Heinze Land Trust recently hosted a dedication and ribbon cutting to celebrate the new amphitheater at Meadowbrook Nature Preserve in Valparaiso.

The event included a sampling of future programs. Attendees heard opening remarks from staff and board members, live music and a poetry reading.

The amphitheater will be used for various programs throughout the year, such as research presentations, live music and entertainment. Shirley Heinze Land Trust owns and operates the nature preserve and amphitheater.

The amphitheater is located within the nature preserve. It is accessible by a 0.4-mile walk from the parking lot.

Since 1981, Shirley Heinze Land Trust has been dedicated to preserving and restoring natural lands and waters in northwestern Indiana. Today, about 4,000 acres across Lake, Porter, La Porte, St. Joseph, Marshall and Starke counties are permanently protected. Most Shirley Heinze Land Trust nature preserves are open to the public to explore and enjoy.
