The largest NCAA volleyball tournament in the country is returning to the Hammond Sportsplex Oct. 18-19.
The Great Midwest Athletic Conference, Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and Great Lakes Valley Conference will come together for the 2024 Midwest Region Crossover.
Each of the 38 teams will play three matches at the 12-court sportsplex. Purdue Northwest’s John Friend Court will also host three matches on Friday.
“We're excited to welcome back the 16th Annual Crossover Volleyball Tournament to Lake County,” said Phil Taillon, South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority president/CEO, in a press release. “Our hotels and restaurants around the Hammond Sportsplex are excited to host the influx of collegiate athletes, coaches and fans.”
The Great Midwest Athletic Conference will field 13 teams. The Great Lakes Valley Conference will have 14 institutions competing. The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will travel 11 different programs. Hillsdale, Quincy and Ferris State are the three top seeds.
“The Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover is in its 16th year as the largest collegiate volleyball tournament in the country and we are excited to return to Hammond in 2024,” Tom Daeger, Great Midwest Athletic Conference commissioner, said. “It will be an exciting weekend of high-level volleyball matches and we appreciate the great support from the community during our stay.”
The first session starts at 9 a.m. CT on Friday morning, followed by sessions at 11:30 a.m. and 2, 4:30 and 7 p.m. Learn more here.
Nearly 650 athletes, their coaches and their fans are expected to attend the tournament.
