IU Northwest announces business speaker series

Indiana University Northwest will offer free, monthly presentations for business owners and entrepreneurs starting Feb. 2.

The 2024 Business Speaker Series is being offered through IUN’s Business Academy in the School of Business and Economics. The presentations will cover topics ranging from bookkeeping to marketing to ethics. Small business owners and entrepreneurs are invited to attend.

All presentations are from 9 a.m. until noon in the Bergland Auditorium on IUN’s campus in Gary. Networking opportunities will follow.

The presentations include:

  • Feb. 2: SOPs: What they are and why you need them. Lisa Bennett of Fearless LLC will discuss standard operating procedures (SOPs) that are important for startups where processes are just being established.
  • Mar. 8: Small Business Bookkeeping Basics for Start-ups. Anna Burke of Accounting Made Simple will outline how business owners need to set up their books to help manage their business and minimize the risk of an audit.
  • Apr. 12: Guiding with Integrity: Navigating the Landscape of Leadership and Ethics. Francine Birgans of EthInLead ® LLC will speak about the intersection of leadership and ethics, exploring how leaders can navigate challenges while upholding a strong moral compass.
  • May 24: How to grow any business with no marketing experience. Andrew Huff of HuffMedia LLC will talk about how to run a thriving business without having a marketing background or marketing experience.
