The Highland Griffith Chamber of Commerce is planning an event for small business owners and entrepreneurs in the Region.

The I Have An Idea: Growing Your Business From Idea To Success event will feature speakers, panel discussions and breakfast. Vendors and business advisers will be on site to provide information about finances, marketing and legal services.

“My goal for the event is to provide assistance to small business owners, ranging from those who want to start a business but don’t know how, to those who are already in business but want to take it to the next level,” said Lance Ryskamp, Highland Griffith Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, in a press release.

Ryskamp has contacted multiple organizations about the event, including SCORE Mentors/Northwest Indiana, Northwest Indiana Small Business Development Center, Hammond Development Corp. and Valparaiso University’s Innovation Hub. He also has reached out to the Society of Innovators at Purdue Northwest, PNW’s Commercialization & Manufacturing Excellence Center, IronWorkz and leaders of Northwest Indiana’s Innovate WithIN community.

“I am very excited with the feedback I have received so far from regional business advisers, as well as from the staff and faculty of Purdue Northwest,” Ryskamp said.

The event will take place Nov. 1 at Alumni Hall at Purdue Northwest’s Hammond campus. The chamber will begin planning content, speakers and vendors now that a date and location have been determined. The chamber plans to finance the event through sponsorships and vendor booth fees, so that participants can attend for free or for a minimal cost. Learn more about the event here.
