Highland ranks No. 6 on Realtor.com's list of the 10 “Hottest Zip Codes of 2023.”
Four Midwest markets made the list, including the Columbus, Chicago, Detroit and St. Louis metro areas. Highland is listed under the Chicago market with a zip code of 46322.
Realtor.com uses an algorithm that takes into account market demand, which is measured by views on its website, and the number of days the property remains active on the website.
Houses in Highland have a median list price of $268,000, according to data on Realtor.com. They also are on the market for a median 19 days.
“The Midwest has enjoyed growing popularity as climbing prices and mortgage rates made popular pandemic-era markets unfeasible for many home shoppers,” reported Realtor.com. “The Midwest zips on this year’s list boast low prices near large metro areas.”
The list shows that buyers are looking for affordability and size.
None of the zip codes on this year's list were on it before; however, the metropolitan areas represented were.
Views for properties in the Highland zip code overwhelming came from the surrounding Chicago-Naperville-Elgin, IL-IN-WI metro area.
