Angie Deuitch, mayor of Michigan City, will address the Gary Chamber of Commerce’s membership luncheon on March 11.
Mayor Deuitch will speak about how Gary mirrors Michigan City, with both cities moving forward with economic development.
Gary and Michigan City were chosen for the Economic Recovery Corps Fellowship. The fellowship was launched in 2023 by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration. The goal of the program is to reinvest in and revitalize each city.
Deuitch was born and raised in Michigan City. She earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Florida A&M University and a master’s degree in public affairs from Indiana University Northwest. Deuitch has over 25 years of management experience in the telecommunications, utility and nonprofit sectors.
The luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m. March 11 at The Chateau Banquets in Merrillville. The cost to attend is $25 a person. For more information, contact the Gary Chamber of Commerce office at 219-885-7407.
The Gary Chamber of Commerce is comprised of business owners, community leaders and citizens. Their mission is to improve the economic, civil and cultural well-being of the area. The chamber hosts workshops, monthly meetings and special events.
