TechPoint announced the Shafer Leadership Academy and Evolve HR Group as new operational partners for its tech talent development program.

TechPoint is the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership’s industry-led initiative for advancing Indiana’s tech economy. TechPoint’s Leadership Academy was established to address the issue of tech talent shortages by empowering Indiana companies to cultivate talent internally. To date, 25 individuals have honed their leadership skills through the program.

“We are so pleased to level up our program with the help of these industry leaders,” said Dennis Trinkle, TechPoint’s senior vice president of talent, strategy and partnerships, in a press release. “Each have deep reach into top-level leaders and great expertise that we can bring to bear for our academy participants.”

The first cohort of 2024 will focus on emerging leaders, providing training for new managers making the transition to leadership roles. Applications for this cohort are now open. Sessions start April 11. The deadline to apply is March 29. Learn more about the program here.

“Moving from being part of a team to running a team is a huge leap, and too few companies have the bandwidth to support their new managers after promotion,” Trinkle said. “We’re very pleased at the demand we see for these emerging leaders, as well as for executive leadership training, which we’ll launch in the second quarter.”

Leadership Academy participants will engage in 10 sessions featuring panel discussions, project work, networking opportunities and insights from management experts. The training addresses topics such as differentiating between management and leadership, building confidence in management abilities, managing a remote workforce, budgeting and fostering inclusive teams.

Shafer Leadership Academy will oversee the day-to-day operations of the program. Evolve HR Group will provide coaching and mentoring services to participants.

“Indiana has a huge population of great leaders who are willing to give their time and insights to help others grow in their careers,” said Jill Lehman, founder of Evolve HR Group. “Bringing them into this terrific program will be really beneficial to the participants, and we can't wait to get started.”

Muncie-based Shafer Leadership Academy provides leadership development training. Fishers-based Evolve HR provides coaching and resources to clients. Indianapolis-based TechPoint works with public, private and industry partners to promote Indiana’s digital economy and expand the state’s tech talent pipeline.
