Merrillville-based Siltworm Inc. is so impressed with Michael Lorenzo's work at the company that leaders created a new position for him. Affectionately known as the company's “Swiss Army knife,” he was promoted to chief operating officer.

Lorenzo's talent for connecting people and finding growth opportunities has led the company to grow by 44% during his tenure from September 2019 to June 2020. He also helped cut operational expenses by 30%. In 2021, that growth rate continued at 40%.
Lorenzo's past positions at Siltworm include director of operations and director of field service operations. He also was the pastoral associate for relational ministry at St. John the Evangelist Church.
“Lorenzo's experience with the organization combined with his extensive background as a missionary, ministry professional and seasoned operations leader uniquely positions him to take on this crucial role within the organization,” according to the statement.
Siltworm Inc. has grown from a startup to a company with multiple locations. It manufactures eco-friendly solutions to erosion control. It was named to Inc Magazine’s Inc 5000 list in 2023. Siltworm ranked No. 26 among companies focused on environmental services.
