The Duneland Chamber of Commerce is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Velvet Tiki Lounge in Chesterton on May 31.

The Velvet Tiki Lounge offers a twist on the traditional Tiki bar experience. The lounge draws inspiration from the small Pacific Island of Devileese. Velvet Tiki lounge offers Tiki drinks and foods that blend island and Irish flavors. It also features live entertainment.

“A Devileese proverb says ‘If you face the sun, all the shadows will fall behind you.' That's what we want to be,” said Misty Banzen, owner, in a press release. “We are excited to bring the happy back, and bring back all the good things that have slowly disappeared over the years.”

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 31 at the Velvet Tiki Lounge. Learn more about the event here.
