Merrillville hotel reopens

Sleep Inn & Suites in Merrillville hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate their opening Aug. 25.

Apex 2024, the ownership group, purchased the hotel last year. Since then, it has invested over $2 million in interior and exterior improvements at the 103-room hotel.

Apex 2024 initially planned to keep a portion of the hotel open while renovating another area. The group decided to temporarily close the facility in August 2024, to focus on enhancing the building. Sleep Inn & Suites opened this month with rooms available on the first floor.

“This ownership group has made a huge investment in the community, and we’re happy with the outcome,” said Bob Pillman, Merrillville fire marshal, in a press release. “We’re looking forward to seeing the finished product.”

Apex 2024 is now renovating the second-floor rooms at Sleep Inn. The group plans to install a new elevator.

Sleep Inn & Suites is part of the Choice Hotels lodging franchise.
