Domino’s plows for pizza in Gary

Domino’s pizza lovers in Gary can rest easy knowing they can eat hot pizza even on snowy days.

The city of Gary recently received a $25,000 snow plowing grant from Domino’s.

To make sure customers can access hot pizza despite the snow, Domino’s is awarding snow plowing grants to cities. The pizza company awarded $500,000 to 20 cities across the country for snow plowing.

Cities were selected from a call for public nominations. Grant offers were made based on a cluster of nominated zip codes in areas that receive plentiful snowfall and have a Domino’s store in the area.

“To us, nothing should stand in the way of getting a delicious pizza, including snowy, cold weather,” said Joe Jordan, Domino’s president of U.S. and global services, in a press release. ” So yes — you heard it right: a pizza company is actually helping to plow roads.”

The Gary community will receive funds to clear snow and a Domino’s Plowing for Pizza kit. The kit includes winter hats, scarves, vehicle magnets and a snow measuring stick and sign. The kit also contains $200 in Domino’s gift cards so plow drivers can warm up with a hot pizza after plowing streets.

Domino’s was founded in 1960. The pizza chain has over 20,000 stores in over 90 markets. In 2023, Domino’s launched Pinpoint Delivery, a technology that expands delivery to places like parks, baseball fields and beaches.
