Bon Vie, a farm-to-table restaurant, is the latest addition to Hobart.
The restaurant combines globally inspired foods with ingredients sourced from local farms and producers. Bon Vie’s menu rotates seasonally depending on what ingredients are in season.
“Bon Vie means ‘good life’ and that is the experience we look to give every guest that walks in our door,” said Laurie Farver-Busch, the restaurant’s owner. “The menu changes when we run out of product in order to give our guests the freshest dish.”
Farver-Busch is a lifelong resident of Northwest Indiana. She taught and worked in the restaurant industry for years. Farver-Busch decided to open her restaurant after she met Chef Ceasar Cicala.
“I met the perfect chef two years ago and decided it was time to pursue my dream,” she said.
Bon Vie is in the former Bistro 54 at 54 Main St. in downtown Hobart. Farver-Busch dined at Bistro 54 several times and liked the charm of the setting. The restaurant is housed in a Victorian home from 1895 with views overlooking Lake George.
John O’Malley of Latitude Commercial in Crown Point represented the buyer and the seller in the transaction.
“Bon Vie is not just a great addition to downtown Hobart, it’s a destination where community and cuisine come together, showcasing the rich flavors of Northwest Indiana,” O’Malley said in a press release.
Bon Vie is open 4 p.m. to 9 Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 4 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. More information about the restaurant and its menu items is available on Bon Vie's website.
