Larson-Danielson Construction and JMA Architects are busy working on a five-story outpatient center on the Community Hospital campus in Munster.
The 125,724-square-foot building will cost about $80 million. Planners expect the project that will employ 200 construction workers to wrap up by early 2028.
“This transition allows us to repurpose that space for additional private patient rooms and expanded inpatient care,” said Randy Neiswonger, CEO of Community Hospital, in a press release. “This is an investment in the health and future of our community.”
The center at 802 MacArthur Blvd. will includes doctors' offices and outpatient services. Patients will have access to cardiac rehabilitation, imaging, infusion, neurology, physical therapy and noninvasive cardiology procedures.
Powers Health has been planning the project at least since 2024 when a new parking garage was expanded to accommodate new patients. The healthcare system's vision for the site will total about 440,000 square feet.
Powers Health has four campuses that serve Munster, East Chicago, Hobart and Crown Point.
