The Methodist Hospitals Foundation appointed a new executive director who has the experience to advance the nonprofit's mission.
Celina Weatherwax was appointed to the position after serving as president and CEO of the MAAC Foundation since 2021.
“Celina brings a deep understanding of philanthropy and a proven ability to build meaningful relationships across our community,” said Heather McCarthy, president of the Methodist Hospitals Foundation, in a press release. “Her passion for storytelling, collaboration and mission-driven work makes her an outstanding leader for our foundation as we continue to support Methodist Hospitals’ exceptional patient care and community health
initiatives.”
Weatherwax also worked with U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar and U.S. Congressman Peter Visclosky in advocacy and community relations roles.

Weatherwax earned an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership and supervision from Purdue University Northwest.
The Methodist Hospitals health care system has served the Gary and Merrillville communities for 100 years.
