AMG Specialty Hospitals, a Louisiana-based long-term acute care hospital operator, acquired Vibra Hospital of Northwestern Indiana.

The mutual agreement will keep the Crown Point hospital serving critically ill patients. The facility will be rebranded AMG Specialty Hospital – Northwest Indiana.

The transition process began Nov. 6 and will be effective Jan. 1.

The hospital, at 9509 Georgia St., was built in 2007-2008. The 33,000-square-foot facility's cost was projected at $7.1 million, according to Holladay Construction Group, which completed the project in 2008. The hospital has 40 beds.

AMG has operated long-term acute care hospitals for over 20 years. AMG has operated 29 post acute specialty hospitals in nine states. This acquisition is AMG's third hospital in Indiana.
