La Porte County Symphony Orchestra announces Hoosier Star finalists

The La Porte County Symphony Orchestra recently named the finalists for the Hoosier Star 2024 competition on Sept. 14.

The finalists will compete, in their respective divisions, for the title of Hoosier Star.

This year’s finalists are:

Adult Division (18 and older)

  • Alyssa Atkinson, South Bend
  • Lindsey Brown, La Porte
  • Noah Garcia, Hammond
  • Alexa Liberi, Mishawaka
  • Max Principe, La Porte

Youth Division (17 and younger)

  • Selah & Olivia Branco, La Porte
  • Sophia Grubbs, Elkhart
  • Bayleigh Miller, La Porte
  • Charles Nwakanma, Fort Wayne
  • Chloe Virijevich, Kouts

Each finalist will sing a song of their choosing, accompanied by the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra. Audience members and a panel of judges will decide the winner. First place adult and youth winners will receive a $1,000 prize. Second place adult and youth winners will receive a $500 prize.

The Hoosier Star competition serves as a benefit concert for the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra. The event will take place at 7 p.m. Sept. 14 at the La Porte Civic Auditorium. Learn more about the event here.

The La Porte County Symphony Orchestra serves the residents of La Porte County and regions beyond, including Southwest Michigan. The LCSO is in its 51st season, having grown from a small community orchestra into a professional orchestra of 60 musicians. Each year, the orchestra presents four subscription concerts, in addition to the Hoosier Star, Holiday at the Pops and children's education concerts.
