Purdue Federal Credit Union hired John Newman as its vice president of enterprise risk management and general counsel.
Newman will help lead the legal and compliance team at the West Lafayette-based credit union. In his new role, he will collaborate with departments on new products, services, technologies and regulations.
Newman has over 26 years of financial and legal experience. He moved to West Lafayette from Freehold, New Jersey. Prior to joining Purdue Federal, he served as general counsel at First Harvest Credit Union and CEO at Federal Employees Newark Federal Credit Union.
Newman’s bachelor's degree is from Seton Hall University. His juris doctor degree is from Seton Hall’s School of Law. Newman also earned an MBA from Montclair State University.
Newman has multiple certifications from the Credit Union National Association. He also holds bar admissions in the U.S. District Court and the state court of New Jersey.
Purdue Federal was founded on Purdue University’s West Lafayette campus in 1969. The credit union’s membership base includes students, faculty, staff and communities where the university operates regional campuses. Purdue Federal has over 100,000 members nationwide. It has branches in Crown Point and La Porte.
