After almost 30 years, Don Harle retired from the American Community Bank board. That decision left a spot on the board. Luckily, Steve Bohn was ready to fill the spot.

Harle helped lead the bank through the good and the bad, including a name change, new president and a pandemic.

“Don has meant a great deal to this board, serving for nearly 30 years,” said Mike Mellon, American Community Bank president, in a press release. “His stabilizing leadership will be missed greatly. We can’t thank him enough for his many years of service to the bank and NWI community.”

Bohn's appointment will be ratified at the board's next annual meeting.

“Steve is a perfect fit for the position with his industry knowledge and familiarity with the current board,” Mellon said. “The timing worked out well. When this board vacancy arose and Steve was available to receive the appointment, the board was afforded the opportunity to fittingly uphold its responsibility with a suitable replacement sure to continue the bank’s standard for great leadership.”

Harle founded the direct mail company Mid-America Mailers in 1969 in Hammond. After 35 years, he merged it with Chicago-based Diamond Marketing Solutions. He earned the Charles Downs Chicago Direct Marketer of the Year in 2007.

American Community Bank of Indiana operates five bank branches in Schererville, Crown Point, Dyer, Hammond and Munster.
