First Merchants names new corporate controller

First Merchants Bank announced the addition of Justin Karvasky to the team as senior vice president, corporate controller.

Prior to joining First Merchants Bank, Karvasky served as the first vice president of finance for First Internet Bancorp. First Internet Bancorp is a publicly traded bank holding company in Fishers. During his eleven-year tenure at First Internet, Karvasky had leadership responsibilities for accounting, financial planning and analysis and corporate treasury.

Karvasky began his career in Columbus with Deloitte, providing audit services to financial institutions. Karvasky’s career also includes roles at Huntington Bancshares and Cardinal Health. Karvasky earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in accounting from Ohio University. He is a former certified public accountant.

His deep financial expertise and collaborative approach will be a great asset to our team,” said Michele Kawiecki, First Merchants CFO, in a press release. “He has a proven track record of driving financial performance and will be instrumental in our mission of being the most attentive, knowledgeable and high-performing bank for our clients, teammates and shareholders.”

Muncie-based First Merchants Corp. is a bank holding company. The company provides commercial and consumer banking services and wealth management services through First Merchants Bank and First Merchants Private Wealth Advisors. First Merchants serves communities in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio.
