StorSafe expands Cedar Lake facility

StorSafe Self Storage's Cedar Lake expansion considers more than storage needs. It also keeps the Region's weather fluctuations in mind.

StorSafe added 27,300 square feet of climate-controlled space to the location at 13649 Wicker Ave.

The company, which has six locations from Elkhart to Munster, also plans to improve the property's overall curb appeal by modernizing the frontage.

“We are incredibly excited to bring this level of service to our existing Cedar Lake facility,” said Tom Bretz, CEO and owner, in a press release. “While our drive-up units have always been popular, we recognized a growing need in the area for climate-controlled space. This expansion allows us to offer a new type of rental experience.”

The location has more than 320 standard units and RV parking. It was acquired in spring 2024.

StorSafe offers climate-controlled and standard storage units, moving trucks and supplies, surveillance cameras, recreational vehicle parking and drive-up access. Storage units are as small as 5-by-5 feet to 20-by-4o feet warehouse sizes.

“Enhancing our Cedar Lake location is a milestone for our regional portfolio,” Bretz said. “We look forward to serving our existing customers with these new premium options and welcoming new neighbors who are looking for the very best in storage quality.”

StorSafe also offers third-party management services to owners of self-storage facilities.

StorSafe, which was founded in 2021, was named to the Inside Self-Storage list of top operators in 2023. The company also has facilities in Munster, Merrillville, Crown Point and Michigan City. StorSafe is a subsidiary of Elmdale Partners, a real estate investment firm based in Chicago.
