MERRILLVILLE – Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) and the National Energy Foundation (NEF) have teamed up to deliver 105 Energy Safe Kids classroom presentations to schools in northern Indiana this November.
Energy Safe Kids is a unique, engaging program designed to encourage fourth-grade students to think about energy sources and how to be safe around them whether at home, at school or outdoors.
“Safety isn’t something that just stays within our ‘NIPSCO walls.’ We work relentlessly every day to educate our communities on our work and energy safety,” said Andy Stone, vice president of gas operations at NIPSCO. “This program is another way for us to continue that education and deliver on our number one commitment – safety. “
Energy educators will teach students the basics about energy and energy safety, and teachers will receive a collection of teaching materials correlated to state common core content, including science and social studies.
Presentations will be held for two weeks starting Monday, Nov. 6. If interested, schools and fourth-grade teachers within NIPSCO’s service territory are asked to register at EnergySafeKids.org/NIPSCO. Space is limited.
