The Society of Innovators at Purdue Northwest will host its 2023 Innovators Awards Luncheon on Oct. 19.
The 19th annual celebration will honor innovators from across the seven-county Region that includes Jasper, Lake, La Porte, Newton, Porter, Pulaski and Starke counties.
“Dedicated to the idea that anyone can be an innovator, the society's annual awards program recognizes that innovation is the key to 21st Century competitiveness,” according to a press release.
An online application process offered opportunities to nominate individuals and team for induction into the society. Honorees are chosen by regional leaders through a review process. The society's board of directors choose members of the selection committee.
While people are recognized, the innovations they create also are important to the selection process. The committee also considers these questions:
- What problem is being solved?
- What is the innovation? (the solution to the problem)
- What new value is the solution creating?
- How is the solution unique?
- What is the impact of the innovation?
Doors open at Purdue University Northwest, 1401 US 421, Westville, at 11:15 a.m. (CST) for check-in and networking. The luncheon begins at 12 p.m. Tickets are $55 per person or $500 for a table. Make a reservation here.
In 2018, the society transitioned its affiliation to PNW and has since become a not-for-profit. The organization was founded in 2004 under the direction of founder John Davies. Sheila Brillson Matias now serves as executive director of both the Leadership Institute and the Society of Innovators both at Purdue Northwest.
