Terry McMahon, CEO of McMahon & Associates CPAs, will be honored during the Distinguished Citizens Dinner on Nov. 8.

For 33 years, the Pathway to Adventure Council has spotlighted top community leaders in Northwest Indiana during the annual event. The organization supports the Boy Scouts of America.

McMahon has a long history of supporting youth in the Region. His service includes leadership at the Munster Youth Activities Association. He and his wife also donated $100,000 to Indiana University Northwest's athletic program in 2019. The funds established the Terry and Karen McMahon Resource Center, according to the IUN website.

McMahon earned his accounting degree from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business in 1962. He started his own practice in 1971, which now employs 30 professionals who serve more than 500 businesses and prepare about 1,300 tax returns. His Munster-based company offers tax expertise, IRS representation, audits, business valuations, estate planning and succession planning, along with basic bookkeeping and payroll services.

The award will be presented during the annual event, starting at 6 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road.

The event's chairman is Jeff Strack, chief executive officer and president of Indiana Grocery Group.
