Beacon launches food relief collaborative

As many families face challenges accessing nutritious meals, Beacon Health System has launched a food relief collaborative to address food insecurity in the Region.

Some Beacon hospitals are offering food options to ensure members of the community have access to the resources they need.

Locations include:

  • Community Hospital of Bremen: 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The hospital will provide a drive-thru service with a freshly prepared meal for immediate use and a frozen meal for later. Pick-up is at the facilities building near associate parking.
  • Elkhart General Hospital: noon to 2 p.m. Wednesdays. The hospital will provide a drive-thru service with non-perishable items and frozen meals on a first come, first served basis. The limit is one backpack (six meals) and one bag of canned goods per vehicle. Individuals can pull up to the circle drive entrance on Arcade Avenue and have items brought out to them.
  • Memorial Hospital of South Bend: noon to 2 p.m. Wednesdays. The hospital will provide non-perishable food and other items, as well as frozen meals. The limit is two backpacks per person (12 frozen meals). Food is in the Discharge Lounge, accessible from main entrance.
  • Three Rivers Health Hospital: 9 to 11 a.m. Fridays (during Thanksgiving week, the drive-thru will be open Nov. 26 and closed Nov. 28.) The hospital will provide frozen meals on a first come, first served basis. The limit is two meals per vehicle. Individuals can pull up to the hospital’s front entrance and have meals brought to them.

A list of additional community food resources is on Beacon Health System’s website.
